Can E-Cigarettes Help You Quit Smoking?
Smokers across the country are turning to electronic cigarettes to dodge smoking bans, but also to find a safe alternative to smoking normal cigarettes.
Makers and ex smokers even say the e-cigarettes can help people break the smoking habit. But most people still don’t know about the electronic cigarette.
“People initially say ‘You can’t do that.’ But once they see what it is, they’re like ‘Wow!’ ” Sebastian Cangemi told Cleveland TV station NewsNet5.
The local business owner creates the electric cigarette near Cleveland. He said he used to be a smoker as well, but his business helped him quit smoking.
“I used to smoke six packs of cigarettes, now I use four cartridges. You get your fix after two to three drags of this, so you actually wean yourself off that hand-to-mouth habit,” said Cangemi.
He said the electric cigarette delivers all the nicotine smokers crave, but none of the carcinogens of normal tobacco cigarettes.
Reporters with the TV station asked long-time smokers Joanne Billie, MaryBeth Kosan and NewsChannel5 photographer Bob Seeley to put their real cigarettes out and Liberty Stix to the test.
“Sucking in — that is amazing. The (cigarette) I put out may have been the last pack I bought,” Billie said.
Kosan added, “Oh, the whole feeling’s there … like you’re really smoking. Not bad!”
Both Billie and Kosan would be willing to pay $35 for the starter kit thinking it may help them quit their increasingly expensive habit.
Cangemi said he’s already sold more than 22,000 kits and has gotten interest from other restaurants and even drug store chains.
So will this trend really catch fire? That remains to be seen.
